In her career so far, Mihaela Caruntu has worn many hats. She has worked in customer service, in a bank and as a sales manager. A versatile professional path which, in 2019, lead her to her current position as a Business Unit Controller at HELLA Aglaia. Backed with degrees in finance and banking with a focus on international markets, Mia now takes care of tasks such as budgeting, cost calculations and headcount planning for the Energy Management and Lighting team.
There isn’t such thing as a regular workday within the small Controlling team but Mia wouldn’t want to have it any other way and values it as an opportunity to apply the full range of her abilities: “We juggle many different complex topics, some of them under strict deadlines so it can be a bit stressful at times. But our tasks are always manageable, and I very much enjoy tackling new issues and that satisfying feeling of having finalized everything correctly and on time.”
Speaking of issues, you can tell Mia enjoys a good challenge now and then – from being the only girl at soccer practice to moving countries to live in Berlin and learning German: “The short news snippets in the HELLA Aglaia corporate TV are actually a good practice for me.” She also took full advantage of the internal networking options at the company: “There’s the team events and the summer party, and I also joined the volleyball team early on which is a great way to meet people and make friends.”
Did she ever have second thoughts about leaving Romania to start over in a new city in another country? “Not at all. It was a brand new start indeed but in the end it’s just another challenge and it’s certainly one that’s easy to enjoy.”
